The inner thoughts of two girls who participated in Erasmus+ meeting in Serres, Greece
in 30 minutes .. I’m so nervous to finally meet my guest.10 minutes left... I’ve never participated in such a program and I have no idea how I should deal with it.
It’s 9:00. Our guests have just arrived. I’m not sure if it’s going to work out. I see mine in the crowd. When we finally talk all the anxiety and doubts go away.
About an hour later .Me and my parents brought our guest home and we showed her the house and her room. My buddy seems to be a really nice person I don’t know why I was no nervous.
It’s Friday. We are taking the guests to the national holiday celebration our school organizes, hoping they like it as much as we do. Some of them give a small performance too, so it is a little bit different compared to other years. Thanks God everyone seems to be delighted!
Saturday morning. We are going all together to the parade. Most of them have no idea what a parade is but after a while they seem to really like it. So, now, I’m taking my friend to a local restaurant to have a traditional greek meal and I am eager to see his reaction to greek food.
Sunday is here and all the guests are going on a trip to Alistrati cave, Philippi Archeological site and museum and Kavala with the 2nd grade students to visit some historical monuments. I would love to be there with them but I try not to worry I’m sure they will be fine. I’m waiting for them to return so that we can go out for a walk.
Today is the big day, Monday, all the students will present their projects and presentations which are the real reason Erasmus is organized for. It will probably take the whole day so at least I hope it’s worth it. The presentations are over andI have to say that I literally loved every single one and I did not expect that I would like them that much.
Shopping dayyy. Today is Tuesday and it is our last day to spend with our guests so the school has already made provisions for this day to be special. The plan says: until the early evening a trip to Thessaloniki and at night a goodbye party at Elpida resort. We just finished our tour at the Roman market and the Catacombs of saint Dimitris church went up the steps of the white Tower and had a boat trip and we are heading to the mall of Thessaloniki called Cosmos to spend some time there. Our trip is over and we are returning to Serres. I have to say that I had a really great time today. I spent my day with my foreign friend bonding, shopping and I think I will remember this day for a long long time. It’s about 10:00 and all the students participating at Erasmus are gathered at Elpida resort to have a memorable Erasmus last night. Our feelings are mixed, we all are really happy this did worked out because we put so much work and effort to make this happen but on the other hand we feel sad that this exceptional journey came to an end.
Wednesday morning. Our guests are leaving in only 10 minutes and I don’t want to believe that this is all going to end and by tomorrow it will be just a memory. Goodbyes are not my thing and I have to do it like 20 times so it will be heartbreaking.
All these emotions made me realize that Erasmus is not only about travelling with friends you already have but also about making new ones, learning about other countries, their habbits, their mentality and way of living and thinking.
